Adrian Gurza Lavalle

Adrian is an Associate Professor of the Political Science Department at University of Sao Paulo (USP). Fellowship Researcher of the National Council of Technological and Scientific Development (CNPq), and fellow researcher at both Brazilan Center of Analysis and Planning (Cebrap) and Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM). He is Co-editor of Lua Nova, Brazilian journal on political theory. His last co-edited book is titled La inovación democrática en América Latina (CIESAS, 2010, co-edited with Ernesto Isunza), and his last edited book is titled El horizonte de la política – Brasil y la agenda contemporánea de investigación en el debate internacional (CIESAS, 2011).

He has been researching for the last ten years civil society politics and democratic governance, and will be engaging in comparative research on representation and democracy during his stay at UBC and the IES.
